DAZN fills summer soccer void in Italy with Copa America
DAZN, the international over-the-top sports streaming platform, has acquired rights in Italy to the 2019 Copa America, the South American national teams competition.
DAZN will show the 14 June to 7 July tournament in Brazil on an exclusive basis.
DAZN launched in Italy last year, armed with rights to Italian soccer's Serie A, which it shows with Sky, and exclusive rights to Serie B.
The rights agreement was struck with Dentsu, the Japanese advertising giant heavily involved in sports marketing, and which is handling the global commercial rights and broadcast rights distribution for the Copa America after signing a deal with Conmebol, the South American soccer confederation, late last year.
All 10 Conmebol members will compete in the tournament, along with guests Japan and Qatar.
